BLACKBURN BUCCANEER S.2B XT280

XT280 was built by Hawker Siddeley at Brough in 1965, to S.2A standard with partial Martel Missile capability. Delivered to the Royal Navy in November 1965. The aircraft served on the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes and HMS Ark Royal and was one of the last 12 Buccaneers to sail with the latter ship before it was de-commissioned on 12 December 1978. XT280 was then assigned to the Royal Air Force in 1981 and served with 16 Squadron at RAF Laarbruch in the then West Germany and in 1984 operated with 208 Squadron and 12 Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth, and was upgraded to S.2B standard in 1988. The aircraft did not see action in the Gulf War and in February 1994 was tendered as scrap and by March had been reduced to just the nose section that you see here.
