The Jetstream was built in the mid 70s by British Aerospace at Prestwick, Scotland and was a great success for the company. XX483 started its life with the Central Flying School and then with the No 5 Flying Training School, Royal Air Force. Transferring to the Royal Navy and service with 750 Squadron, Fleet Air Arm, Culdrose, Cornwall. The aircraft made its last flight to RAF Shawbury on 2 April 1996, to be used for spares and eventually scrapped except for the cockpit section which was bought by the Museum in 2002. |
