HAWKER SIDDELEY TRIDENT 3B (G-AWZJ)

Trident G-AWZJ made its first flight on 9 September 1971 and served all its life with British Airways on European short haul flights. These short flights would account for the low flight hours (23118) with 19,784 landings. G-AWZJ made its last revenue flight on 9 December 1985 between Zurich and London Heathrow, and was the last British based Trident to fly fee paying flights. On 28 February 1986 G-AWZJ left Heathrow for Prestwick Airport in Scotland as a non-destructive trainer with the airport’s fire service and gainfully employed until 1999 when it was acquired by the Museum. The aircraft has also been used as a prop on two occasions by Scottish BBC TV.
