On the first of December, after almost two years of protracted negotiations, the museum took ownership of further ground bordering the existing site. A combination of funds from The Foyle Foundation, The Charles Hayward Foundation and the museum’s own funds have allowed the purchase at a very fair price from Scottish Enterprise.
The new ground includes a 20 meter strip at the back of the site which will be used to build new display buildings and a workshop. The museum has also purchased a portion of the field adjoining the museum site which we have been using for our summer show. This will protect our frontage onto the road as well as allowing space for future development of the museum.
