Teresa McNabola (later Richardson), from Edinburgh, was a W.A.A.F. stationed at R.A.F. Dumfries from 1942 to 1945. In 1943 she began to compile an autograph book with signatures of personnel at the station.
The book has 37 entries, seven of them with sadly illegible signatures. A single entry was dated in 1944. The entries reproduced here are self-explanatory and each has an illustration or item in addition to the signature.
One of the most poignant entries is from one of the many Polish airmen who passed through R.A.F. Dumfries: his signature is unclear but would seem to be A. Peggwlo ? If anybody reading this can correct (or confirm) that and perhaps even knows what became of him, we would be delighted to know. His message is simple and straightforward, and particularly touching amidst the uncertainties of wartime.
