2023 Events

We are pleased to be able to run our full calendar of events again this year, with all four events back for you to enjoy. Keep an eye on this page as event posters are added throughout the year – these will have more details of what’s on at each event nearer the time.

Cockpits North & model show Weekend

SATURDAY & SUNDAY MAY 13TH AND 14TH

For this event we welcome a number of mobile aircraft cockpits, some owned by fellow museums and some by private individuals. This allows visitors to see and even sit inside a number of aircraft not normally available at the museum. We also have a few of our own aircraft cockpits available for inspection as well. In addition we will also run a new Model Show, inviting local modellers especially to show off their talents.

HOME FRONT DAY

SATURDAY JUNE 10TH

A new event for us this year to relaunch our Home Front building with it’s new displays for 2023. There will be Home Front re-enactors including air raid wardens, Home Guard and fire watchers, music, activities for kids and our tearoom will have a wartime vintage theme for the day.

Military Vehicle Weekend

SATURDAY & SUNDAY JULY 22ND & 23RD

The museum grounds are filled with military vehicles of all shapes and sizes for this event, with trucks, Land Rovers, motorcycles, Jeeps and even a tank having visited in the past. A number of re-enactors are also present both allied and axis, displaying weapons and uniforms of many eras and nationalities.

Airborne Forces Day

SATURDAY AUGUST 26TH

We welcome airborne veterans to the museum and have interactive displays of equipment and uniforms from the past and the present day. This is a very social event, and a great opportunity to meet members of the airborne brotherhood.

Wings and Wheels Day

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 24TH

A proper slice of nostalgia with the museum grounds filled with classic cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles from all eras. In the past we have had a veteran Arrol Johnson car, lots of fifties and sixties classics, modern trucks and even the General Lee at the show.
